Features Sri Dalada Maligawa
Sri Dalada Maligawa is considered to be one of the most Sacred places for Buddhists around the world as it houses the Left Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha.
It is built using typical Kandyan Architectural styles which are of immense cultural value.
It was declared a world heritage site by UNESCO in 1988.
Daily thousands of Buddhist pilgrims and visitors, local and foreign equally visit the Sri Dalada Maligawa to pay their respect.The architecture is typically Kandyan as well as in lieu with the ancient style of palaces enshrined the Sacred Tooth Relic.
The Sri Dalada Maligawa is built towards the eastern side of the city next to the Kings Palace bordering Uduwatta Kelaya (Jungle).
The kings palace is on the Northern side, on the Southern side is the Kandy Lake which is also called the “ Kiri Muhuda” , “Natha” & “Paththini” devala are on the Western side of the temple.
